Table tennis referee hails Ibile Games

LAGOS – John Peters, the referee at the just-concluded table tennis event of the ongoing Ibile Games has hailed the competition as having lived up to expectations.

“The competition was keenly contested and the eventual winners deserved their victories,’’ Peters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.

“The competition went smoothly as planned because organisation and facilities provided are superb.

“I thank the Lagos State Government for the opportunity they have given to our youngsters,’’ he said.

He noted that there were no delays experienced in the four days of competition in the table tennis event. “I am glad we had successful competition’’.

The referee said that with what the athletes exhibited, he was certain they would be prepared for the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged “Paradise Games” in Calabar in November.

“I saw determination and zeal in many of the players. The festival in Calabar won’t be tough for them from what I saw of them at Ibile Games,” he said.

Table Tennis event was wrapped up on Saturday at the Knock-up Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

The Table tennis event which kicked off on April 30, ended on May 3. (NAN)
