SOKOTO – Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has advocated for mutual and plausible synergy between traditional rulers, various arms of government and other key stakeholders in the Nigerian project.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tambuwal spoke in Sokoto on Tuesday when he received three different delegations on separate courtesy calls.
Receiving the first delegation from the Sultanate Council of Sokoto, led by the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, the governor stated that the contributions of the traditional rulers in the nation cannot in any way be over-emphasised.
“The Royal Fathers across Nigeria have for centuries being making invaluable contributions to the peace, unity and socio-economic transformation of the country.
“My administration will build on the cordial relations that had existed between my predecessor and the highly revered traditional institutions.
“We will endeavour to partner with you to provide the needed social infrastructure to the people irrespective of any religious, ethnic or political considerations,’’ he added.
Danbaba had earlier told Tambuwal that the visit, which was at the instance of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, was aimed at felicitating with him.
Similarly, the governor had told a delegation from the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Tureta, that he would ensure smooth relationship between the lawmakers and the executives.
“Such a cordial relationship between us is crucial to ensuring the sustainable and even provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state,’’ Tambuwal added.
Tureta had told the governor that the visit was aimed at strengthening the ties between the executive and legislative arms of government.

He commended them for their efforts at facilitating the successes recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the recent polls.
The state Chairman of ALGON, Alhaji Jabbi Shagari, who is also the caretaker chairman of Shagari local government council in the state, promised to partner with the state government to sustain the sterling achievements of his predecessor and even surpass them. (NAN)
