Sokoto (Sokoto State) – Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto has assured women of the State of adequate opportunities to prove their mettle.
Tambuwal gave the assurance when he received leadership of the High Level Women Advocates (HiLWA), from Niger, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Bauchi and Zamfara, in Sokoto on Thursday.
“Please take the charge, prove yourselves, we will give you the opportunity.”
He said Sokoto had set a pace for being among the first to appoint female to the office of the chief judge in the country in addition to Nana As’mau who had many books to her credit.
The governor assured them that women would be appointed into key offices.
Leader of the group, Mrs Suwaiba Barau, advocated more women participation in education positions in their various states.

According to her, only 17.3 per cent of women are holding positions in the six states, 2.6 per cent at local government level, and 8.4 per cent at school level.
The figure, she noted, needed to be improved upon, to stimulate more enrolment of girls into schools. (NAN)
