Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The spokesman for the Thirdforce and a leading figure in Obi/Datti Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko has absolved the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi of ethnic bias in his comments.
Dr. Tanko who was a guest on ChannelsTelevision’s Politics Today Monday night stressed that, “if there’s any candidate who has restricted his discussions to issues, it’s the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi”.
He noted that while other candidates and their supporters had continued to attack him, Mr Obi, has restrained his discussions to issues and he should be commended for towing that stance.
On the chances of the party in the forthcoming presidential election, Dr. Tanko declared that the Labour Party Candidate had better chances than candidates of other parties.
He disclosed that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress, (TUC) were working in tandem with the leadership of the Labour Party to mobilise workers up to the local governments to work for the success of the party’s candidates at all levels.
The Thirdforce spokesman further observed that the retreat organised by the party, and the National Consultative Forum, (NCF) in collaboration with labour unions was aimed at preparing everyone for task ahead.
He added that attendance was overwhelming and that it proved that the workers and indeed Nigerians were determined to rescue the country from perpetual misrule.
On the criticisms that have trailed Mr Obi’s visits to churches, Dr. Tanko opined that rather criticise him for going to churches Nigerians should praise him for being religious.
He noted that in all the churches he visited, he only asked for prayers for the nation, he never campaigned for votes, adding that the current state of the country required prayers.
