Abuja   –     The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku and the people of the state over the victory of the party in last Saturday’s State Assembly bye-election.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, attributed the party’s victory in the election to outstanding performance of Ishaku in the state

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Dominic Bukuni (PDP), as winner of the Ardo Kola state constituency of Taraba State bye-election with 8,848 votes.

Ologbondiyan added the party also won the Taraba state Assembly bye-election into Ardo-kola state constituency further affirms our party’s popularity among Nigerians in all parts of the country.

He said that the victory was just as we witnessed in recent elections in Osun, Ekiti and Delta states where PDP swept the polls.

“The victory is as a result of the outstanding performance of Ishaku in delivering democracy dividends to the people in line with the PDP manifesto.

“Governor Ishaku’s giant strides in infrastructure development in
addition to well-thought-out economic empowerment programmes remain critical milestones.

“A milestone that no All Progressives Congress (APC) government at any level can offer, while underpinning the good governance bearing of the PDP.

Ologbondiyan expressed the party readiness for victory at the
forthcoming House of Representative bye-election in Katsina state.

“The Taraba victory and PDP’s popularity in Katsina ahead of the
Mashi/Dutsi federal constituency bye-election reinforces the acceptance of the PDP across the nation.

“It also expressed the readiness of Nigerians to resurge the
party at all levels and return the PDP to power at the center come 2019.”

He, however, raised an alarm on plan to rig the Katsina bye-election, adding that such plan was already dead on arrival as the people were now with the PDP.

“Nevertheless, the PDP is coasting to victory as the people of Katsina
are already rallied with us ahead of the poll.”

Ologbondiyan advised INEC to ensure that the election was free and fair.

“The electoral body must therefore immediately reject all ploys of the
ruling party to rig the election against the will of the people.”
