ABUJA – The Tax Appeal Tribunal, Abuja, has adjourned till April 7, a N65 million suit
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]filed against the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) by Gazprom Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the N65 million suit is an appeal filed by the company to discharge VAT re-assessment notices charged against it.
Mr Nnamdi Ibegbu, the Acting Chairman of the tribunal, on Thursday in Abuja, gave FIRS seven days to file the reply to Gazproms’s appeal.
The two VAT re-assessment notices were issued by the respondent on the appellant on March 5, 2013, in the sums of US $339,168.87 and Euro 50,894.96 (N65 million).
Mr Folajimi Akinla, Counsel to Gazprom, expressed dissatisfaction over the delay to the reply on their appeal.
Mr Barry Chukwu, Counsel to FIRS, who recently took over the case, pleaded for time to file a reply. (NAN)
