Abuja –  Mr Goodwill Akor, an expert in technology incubation, has called on government to invest more in local content.

Akor told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that though government is doing a lot in building capacity in technology creation, most inventions waste away.

“Government therefore needs to make it mandatory for its agencies to adopt and utilise those things built by the youths.

“ By this, you will discover that government would do a lot in encouraging capacity of people through expos and exhibitions.

“But when it comes to patronising these goods, government often neglects the locally fabricated things and give contracts to already established companies to import same into the country.

“That means we are not confident in the efficacy of made-in-Nigeria goods,” Akor said

The expert said that if Nigeria must advance technologically, government must take the lead in promoting made-in-Nigeria products by investing in local content.

Speaking on the prospects for 2018, the expert said that Nigeria has all it takes to be great technologically if only leaders would practise what they preach. (NAN)
