Teenager docked for allegedly obtaining N270,000 under false pretence

SANGO-OTA (OGUN) – A teenager, Igbinovia Michael, on Thursday appeared before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun , for allegedly obtaining N270,000 under false pretence.
Michael, 18, who resides at No. 27, Oju-Ore St. in Ota, Ogun, is facing a one-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence.
The prosecutor, Sgt.Itaita Ebibomini, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at a spot opposite Adeojo Nursery and Primary School, Igberan in Ota.
Ebibomini said that the accused collected N270,000 from one Adepoju Michael under the pretext that he would supply him used batteries, but he failed to do so.
The offences, Ebibomini said, contravened Sections 390 (9),and 419 of the Criminal Code Revised Law of Ogun , 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Chief Magistrate Titi Bello granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
Bello said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must show evidence of gainful employment.
She said that the surety must also produce evidence of one year tax payment to Ogun State Government, as part of the bail conditions.
The chief magistrate also directed the police to verify the address of the surety and adjourned the case till Jan. 14, 2015 for hearing. (NAN)
