Ikeja – An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Monday remanded an 18-year-old man, Mustapha Abubakar, in Kirikiri Prisons for unlawfully entering into a compound with an intent to steal.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. A. Adetunji, remanded Abubakar following his plea of guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful entry.
Adetunji said that the accused should be kept behind bars pending his sentencing on June 6.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Matthew Akhaluode, told the court that the accused committed the offences with two other persons still at large on May 27 at No. 6A, Lai Fafowora St., Magodo, Lagos.
Akhaluode said that the accused unlawfully entered the compound of the complainant, Mr Yusuf Belgore.
“The accused jumped over the fence and entered the compound of the complainant with an intention to steal.
“He was caught by the security guard who alerted the complainant, while the other persons escaped,” the prosecutor said.
The offences contravened Section 308 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 308 stipulates a seven-year jail term for unlawful entry, while Section 411 provides a two-year imprisonment for conspiracy.
