Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar has revealed that terrorists may attack Plateau community in Mangu LGA this night.
The GOC said he received an intelligence report this afternoon that the militias will be coming from Nasarawa State, a neighboring State to Plateau.
The militias may be connected to the killing of a Fulani leader, Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo, the Ardo of Panyam in Mangu community who was murdered sometime in September 2023.
Although the body of the Ardo has been discovered and buried last week, rumour had it that Fulani militias may carry out a reprisal, our correspondent reports.
However Gen. Abubakar who doubles as the Operation Safe Haven Commander, said troops have been positioned to apprehend the assailants should they carry out their threat.
The Military Commander was speaking this afternoon in a stakeholders meeting held in Mangu where the leaders of Mangu and Fulani representatives were engaged in a dialogue to find a lasting solution to the many killings that has engulfed the community with the latest killing of the Ardo which may trigger a reprisal.

“As I speak, a security alert I just received indicates that militias are on their way from Nasarawa State to attack Plateau tonight”.
He assured the stakeholders and the general public that those who killed the late Ardo will soon be apprehended, saying that three suspects are already in their custody and promising that by next week the prime suspect will be caught.
“What is happening on the Plateau is a criminal act. When cattle are rustled the criminals go enjoy the proceeds while people continue to kill themselves.
“Proliferation of small arms are also a bane of the crisis in the country. Illicit drugs are also a contributory factor to the crisis in the State and country at large”, the Army Commander said.
