Sokoto – The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has executed various projects costing N2.6 billion at the Sokoto State Polytechnic in the last one year.
Prof. Aminu Ibrahim, the Rector of the institution, announced this while fielding questions from newsmen on Friday in Sokoto.
He said that all the projects have been successfully completed and put to proper use.
Ibrahim listed some of the projects to include the construction and furnishing of a new administrative block and six engineering workshops.
Others are the procurement of engineering equipment, construction of classrooms, offices, installation of solar street lights and construction of road networks.
The rector said TETFUND also funded manuscript development, research and fabrication, as well as several other renovation works among others.
“Through the intervention of the fund, 30 workers of the institution are billed to attend various international conferences and workshops in different countries.
“Similarly, through the fund’s Academic Staff Training and Development in 2015, more than ten academic staff will enjoy sponsorship to pursue post graduate degrees at home and abroad.
“In addition, academic and administrative employees are regularly sponsored for various local seminars and workshops,’’ he added. (NAN)
