Bangkok – Thai Premier Prayuth Chan-Ocha on Monday dismissed criticisms by U.S. Ambassador Glyn Davies of his government’s human rights record.

He asked newsmen in Bangkok that “Are we one of their colonies?.

“All Thais hate them, I mean the U.S. ambassadors, I have to temper the people’s anger.

“`This will not damage relations,’’ Prayuth said.

The U.S. Ambassador had on Friday expressed U.S. concerns over the detention of civil rights activists in Thailand.

The military government in Bangkok came under criticism from abroad in recent weeks over the detention of pro-democracy advocates,
including the mother of an activist over a Facebook comment. (dpa/NAN)
