ABUJA- Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed his reaction to the outcome of the presidential election tribunal judgment. In a recent tweet, he voiced concerns that the judgment could regress Nigeria’s electoral system to the pre-1999 era. In his tweet as seen in the screenshot below, Okonkwo described this judgment as analog in a time when the technologically advanced Electoral Act of 2022 should prevail.

He emphasized his viewpoint with the following statement, “The PEPC judgment is inherently contradictory and illogical. If allowed to stand, it will undermine every achievement the Electoral Act, 2022 was designed to accomplish. This judgment threatens to revert us to the pre-1999 election era when manual collation was a significant challenge in our elections.”

A few hours ago, he posted another tweet asserting that this judgment fails to recognize the legislative intent behind the technological advancements in our elections and seems determined to undermine it. He expressed his disagreement with some of the court’s statements.
