Been thinking how Nigeria got to the stage of having young people so eager for everything so wrong; loud in calling for destruction even as they know nothing about its implications.
Young people that are supposed to be asking their community leaders what they had done with the resources passed through them for communal development but found their ways into personal vaults, leading to increasing rates of unemployment, infrastructural collapse and dehumanization of not just the citizenry but the community.
Why are the northern Nigeria youths not expelling those who destroyed the pyramids, the textile, tile and other industries to fill the space with the most wretched on earth?
It would have been a great news reading or hearing the herrings warn their leaders who stupendously enriched themselves with what would have grown up their common interests.
Emir Mohammadu Sanusi Lamido Sanusi the 2nd, a former Governor of the Central Bank, made a courageous attempt to challenge the dependants of public resources manipulating urchins to carelessly and unconsciously revive their archaic interests and just now, the “youths” have taken up attention for a suicidal mission, thoughtless of the consequence.
The problem of Nigeria and any part of it is not ethnic but a clueless, irresponsible, indiscipline class of people lacking in selfless public service.
Neither Sadauna nor Nnamdi Azikiwe nor Awolowo or even Ojukwu will be proud of these characters who now carry the banners of ethnic cleansing which they thought is the same as restructuring or self determination.
Just as a Biafra wont be achievable without asking each of the Governors of Eastern Nigeria what has been done with resources they collect from Abuja without reviving the natural resources in their various states to create jobs and viable, independent economies, so will it be when bereft youths order the expulsion of people who have grown up economies of their region with private monies while their leaders enjoy public funds meant for the development of their region.
My fear for Nigeria is that the generation of young people with an uncritical mind and media will make the entire country, even the smallest community, a past tense without realizing the implication of calling for war they are neither prepared for nor have genuine reasons, beyond ethnic jingoism.
Any country with clearly directionless young people, obviously operating as mercenaries of those who destroyed or acted as compradors of underdevelopment and ultimately ruined generations is doomed.
And by the way, the Northern Nigeria youths who flew the ultimatum have little or no understanding of the implications, just like the Biafran agitators.
There will be more internal implosions when they each and all achieve their immediate interests.
No part of Nigeria is not underdeveloped and the under-developers bear no ethnic marks. They are ALL united in criminally shortchanging us all.
Stop senselessly calling for what YOU cannot bear.
Acting the script of your oppressor is the most destructive of your worth.
