One of the greatest POLITICAL INSULTS of this era is calling APC party of “progressives”.
Perhaps, we need to explain to some of their young, misguided followers what PROGRESSIVISM was like during the UPN/PRP era:
* It was about ideas.
* It was about programmes.
* Programmes RELIGIOUSLY followed.
* The Four-Cardinal programme of the UPN between 1979 and 1983 was like public service manual for all their governors in the LOBOO (Lagos, Oyo, Bendel, Ogun and Ondo) states.
* Their governors LIVED and BREATHED it.
* They used it to campaign and they implemented it.
I was a beneficiary.
Now, note these:
* Progressives and godfatherism don’t go hand in hand.
* Progressives do NOT engage in the SHOW OF SHAME that was the Osun Rerun.
* They don’t use thugs to intimidate opponents.
* Awolowo never amassed illicit wealth like Tinubu is doing today.
* He never asked States under UPN to be paying him “royalty”.
* Awolowo never breathed down on the neck of his followers
Please stop abusing the word PROGRESSIVISM.
