Abuja – Nigeria Police have promised adequate security during Police Week and 11th Biennial Police Games which will be preceded by sports on March 19.
The Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the events, AIG James Caulcrick, made the disclosure at a news conference in Abuja on Monday.
He said that police provide security for the populace and there would be no reason why it would not do same for themselves.
“There will be adequate security since we provide security for others, certainly there will be enough security on ground for the two events.
He said that the police week which began on April 7, 1973 was aimed at giving officers and men the opportunity to socialise from the rigours of work.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Caulcrick said that during the period, Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), and the police medical team would render free medical services to indigent Nigerians.
He said the association would also donate items ranging from foods, drugs, toiletries and financial services to widows of deceased police officers.
The chairman said internal mechanism had been put in place to ensure that only genuine widows benefited from the largesse.
“The relevant organs are working out the modalities to ensure that only widows benefited’’, he said.
