SYDNEY – Three flights of Australian airline Qantas were cancelled in mid-air over passenger cabin problems in the same 24-hour period, local media reported on Monday.
According to the report, an A380 jet from Dubai to Sydney had to make an emergency landing in Perth early on Monday morning due to an air conditioning problem.
It said that a few hours later a domestic 737 flight turned back to Perth after a strong odour and smoke were detected in the cabin.
Later in the day an A380 from Sydney to Dallas was forced to turn back after four hours due to problems in seat power and toilets.
The incidents came the same day as Qantas chief executive, Alan Joyce predicted a profit rebound after severe cost cuts and lower jet fuel prices.
Joyce forecast Qantas would report a pretax underlying profit in July to December 2014 of between 300 million and 350 million Australian dollars compared to a 252-million-Australian-dollar for the same period in 2013. (dpa/NAN)
