Tinubu Appoints Oyedele as New Minister of State for Finance, Shifts Anite-Uzoka to Budget Ministry
ABUJA (SUNDIATA POST) – President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka.
The announcement came in a statement Tuesday from Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. Tinubu also redeployed Anite-Uzoka to Minister of State for Budget and National Planning—her third portfolio in the administration. In a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu requested Senate confirmation for Oyedele.

Before the nomination, the 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. There, he led a major overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
Oyedele holds an HND in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He completed executive programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, Gordon Institute of Business Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.

He spent 22 years at PwC, starting in 2001 and rising to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. Today, he teaches as a professor at Babcock University and serves as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
If confirmed, Oyedele will bolster the Tinubu administration’s push for fiscal reforms and stronger economic management.
