NISO was officially established by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on April 30, 2024. It is jointly owned by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), with both holding equal shares.
The presidency stated that the selection process was conducted through the Independent Board Nomination Committee (IBNC) in collaboration with Phillips Consulting Limited. Meanwhile, the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) will finalize the recruitment process for NISO.
