President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Federal University in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, to increase access to higher education in the region.
The announcement was made by Vice-President Kashim Shettima during a condolence visit to Bishop Matthew Kukah following the death of his brother, Yohanna, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Expanding Educational and Health Facilities
During the visit, Shettima highlighted ongoing federal initiatives to uplift Southern Kaduna. He announced plans for a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services in the area.
Addressing Security and Infrastructure Needs
Shettima also spoke about the recent appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, noting that it aligns with the Federal Government’s broader strategy to enhance security across the region.
He commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for fostering inclusive governance and pledged federal collaboration to improve infrastructure, particularly roads, in Southern Kaduna.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the developmental and security needs of the region while fostering growth and inclusivity.
