ABUJA – In what may come as a surprise to many people, especially Obidients (as supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi are called), President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, as one of his special advisers.
The President appointed him the Special Adviser, Political, to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed is the elder brother to Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25th 2023 presidential election. He was, also, a constant critic of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
The new appointee accepted the appointment and described it as an honour. He, also, said this was no time for “fence-sitting” criticism.
His words: “It is time to make it public that I have accepted the call to serve as Special Adviser (Political) to the VP, @KShettima. This is not the time for fence-sitting or criticism when you can be useful in turning the country round. I am honoured and humbled. Please pray for me and Nigeria.”
A former ambassador who commented on Dr. Baba-Ahmed’s appointment and acceptance said: “Politics is above sentiment and emotion. It’s a game of interest and calculation.
Congratulations Doc!”
His younger brother, Peter Obi’s Presidential running mate, Datti, has not commented, nor have Obidients.
