President Bola Tinubu has named Nwakuche Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, effective December 15, 2024.
His appointment follows the conclusion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure, who was initially appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021.
The announcement was made on Friday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board.
In a statement, Ahmed said, “The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of Haliru Nababa’s tenure. The appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024.”
Born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, Ndidi previously served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate. He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
President Tinubu urged Ndidi to leverage his extensive experience to enhance the service in his new role.
