ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, January 16, held a crucial security meeting with heads of security and law enforcement agencies, including the service chiefs, at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting came on the heels of renewed security breaches in some parts of the country, especially in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where kidnappers have wrecked some heinous brutality in the last few days.
Although there was no official briefing on the agenda of the meeting, it was believed that President Tinubu and his security chiefs took the time to review recent security situation in parts of the country, proposing ways of taming rising free reign of criminals, including kidnapers and bandits.
The meeting was also held a few hours after the Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, convened his own security appraisal meeting over the horrors unleashed on residents of the seat of power by kidnappers, who have resorted to mindless killing and demands for heavy ransoms from victims.
Among those at the meeting were the Minister of Defense, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike; as well as the Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle.
Others at the meeting were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Director General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi; Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar were also at the meeting.
There was no official briefing after the meeting.
