Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
Tijani announced the news on X, highlighting that this achievement is not just a personal milestone but also a significant victory for Nigeria.
He tweeted: “I am honored to be invited by the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, to serve on the Board of Trustees of UNITAR, an autonomous institution created within the UN framework to enhance the effectiveness of the Organization in meeting its key objectives.”
Tijani emphasized that his invitation to the UNITAR Board is a recognition of Nigeria’s progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly in economic and social development. He also noted that it validates the country’s efforts in building capacity and closing the technology skills gap, mentioning initiatives like the 3MTT Nigeria, the world’s largest talent accelerator.
He concluded by expressing his eagerness to collaborate with fellow board members to develop principles and policies guiding the Institute’s activities. He ended with the hashtag #NigerianExcellence.
