Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Presidential Spokesperson, has announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence.
He made the announcement in a memo sent to the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Friday.
Ngelale explained that he made this difficult decision due to pressing medical concerns affecting his immediate family. “This agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” he stated.
During his leave, Ngelale will also step away from his other roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen. He acknowledged the importance of his duties but noted, “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family.”
The duration of his leave remains uncertain, but Ngelale expressed hope to return to his national service roles once the situation improves, saying, “I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit.”
