KUJE (FCT) – Some tipper drivers on Thursday urged the Kuje Area Council of the FCT to provide a parking space for them to ease the operation.
The drivers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kuje on Thursday that lack of adequate parking space had contributed to the traffic congestion often caused by heavy trucks in the area.
The Chairman, Kuje Road Transport Workers, Mr Idris Ndaman, said although they pay N500 daily to the authority, nothing had been done to address their problem.
He decried the inadequate parking space and bad access road linking the Kuje-Gwagwalada and the temporary tipper park opposite AZMAN filling station.
Ndaman called on the local authority to make provisions for proper parking space for trucks as a way of encouraging the growth of the business.
“We don’t have enough space to park our vehicles, when rain falls, our trucks get stuck in the mud and cause serious damage, thereby hindering our business.
“Every day, we pay N500 to the Local Government authority as revenue, yet, we don’t have a permanent tipper park.”
Ndaman said the group had made efforts to discuss the way out with the chairman of council without any success, as their request was turned down.
He, however, urged the council chairman to deliver on his campaign promise in order to encourage them in their business. (NAN)
