ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The total Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for 2015 from the 36 states has dropped from N707.8 billlion in 2014 to N683.6 billion in 2015, latest data from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reveal.
Although Ebonyi State figure was not included in 2015, 23 states posted IGR in 2015 less than 2014 while 12 post IGR in 2015 higher than 2014.
States in the federation with higher IGR in 2015 than 2014 include Ogun, Edo,Anambra, Abia, Kogi, Sokoto,Niger,Bauchi, Nasarawa, Taraba, and Borno. Yobe, Zamfara, Ekiti, Borno, Kebbi, Taraba, Nasarawa, Adamawa, and Gombe posted the lowest IGR in 2015. Biggest year on year drop in IGR was posted in Kwara (-73.57%), Imo (-48.30%) and Yobe (-36.63%)
Despite having the top three IGR in 2015, Lagos-N268.2bn, Rivers-N82.1bn and Delta-N40.8bn all declined by 2.96%, 8.54% & 4.93% respectively. Highest year on year rise in IGR was posted in Ogun (49.42%), Anambra (29.32%), Edo (10.95%).
