IKEJA – A 30-year-old trader, Stanley Dominic, who allegedly assaulted his landlord and pushed him into a drainage, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Dominic, a resident of No. 20, Sura Ogunmakun St., Papa Ashafa, Dopemu, Agege, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and malicious damage.
The prosecutor, Insp. Edet Okoi, said that the accused assaulted his landlord, Mr David Sunday, by giving him a fist blow on his leg and pushing him into the drainage.
Okoi said that the accused maliciously damaged four bricks valued at N640, belonging to Sunday.
“Sunday cautioned Dominic against sitting on the bricks which he moulded for sale, the accused ignored the warning and assaulted Sunday,” the prosecutor said.
He said that the accused committed the offences on June 15 at 6.15 p.m. at No. 20, Sura Ogunmakun St., Papa Ashafa, Dopemu, Agege, Lagos.
Okoi said that the offences contravened Sections 171 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused could be sentenced to three years imprisonment on conviction.
The accused, however, entered a plea of `not guilty’ to the charge preferred against him.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Oshodi-Makanju, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till July 7, for mention. (NAN)
