The January transfer window is in full swing with negotiations and deals starting to click into place as clubs begin work on their much-needed business this month. Davidson Abraham brings you the latest news from the last 24 hours
January is always a tricky time for clubs to operate but the transfer departments at every club will be working overtime to strengthen. We have already seen Man United send Donny van de Beek out on loan to Frankfurt, and Jadon Sancho is among the players likely to join him out the exit door.
Meanwhile, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle are all set to make moves to strengthen their squads this month too as they bid for a strong end to the season.

- Kalvin Phillip’s move to Newcastle is ‘on a knife edge’ despite the Magpies holding early talks with Man City, with Eddie Howe’s side likely to make signings towards the end of the window. (iNews)
- West Ham are set to reignite their interest in Wolves defender Max Kilman, despite the player only signing a new deal at Molineux in August. David Moyes is a huge admirer and had the player on his list in the summer. (talkSport)
- Man United and Borussia Dortmund are actively working on a loan deal for outcast Jadon Sancho after being banished from Erik ten Hag’s squad – with the 23-year-old open to return to the Bundesliga outfit. (Mail Sport)
- Chelsea have held talks with Dortmund about letting defender Ian Maatsen join in January and are open to selling him – but are holding out for £30m. The German side, however, are unwilling to pay that price and would rather sign him on loan. (Evening Standard). Meanwhile, the Blues are also ready to let Trevoh Chalobah leave this month after his struggles with fitness after a hamstring problem. The defender will most likely leave on loan with a view to a permanent move. (The Sun)
- Bayern Munich are willing to pay the £15m release clause to sign Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy as they look to pair him with Harry Kane up front. Guirassy also has interest from Man United, Tottenham and Newcastle after netting 17 goals in the German top flight this season. (Goal)
- Everton are considering handing former Man United star Jesse Lingard a lifeline after being released by Nottingham Forest in the summer. Lingard had a trial with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq but failed to earn a contract. (Mail Sport)
- West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer is closing in on a loan move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, with the French outfit set to pay a £430,000 fee to take the player on for the rest of the season. (Fabrizio Romano)
- AC Milan are interested in signing Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran this month, but the Serie A side will have to sell a non-EU player in order to bring him in. The 20-year-old has been frustrated in his bid for game time by the form of Ollie Watkins. (Sky Sports)
