TARABA (Sundiata Post) – In a resolute effort to combat the escalating challenges of banditry and kidnapping in Taraba State, the troops of the 114 Battalion (Rear), operating under the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in collaboration with various security forces, have executed a successful operation resulting in the dismantling of multiple bandits’ hideouts and the rescue of four kidnap victims.
Acting Assistant Director 6 Brigade Army Public Relations Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde said the operation, characterized by its swiftness and precision, was launched on the 2nd of February 2024, with the primary objective of flushing out bandits and kidnappers disrupting the peace in the Yorro Local Government Area (LGA) and its surrounding areas.
Troops engaged with the criminal elements at Gampu hills and Ban Yorro area, deploying superior firepower that forced the bandits to abandon their hideouts, leaving behind their captive victims.
The ongoing operation is dedicated to ensuring the retrieval and reunification of other individuals who managed to escape during the intense exchange of fire.
Among the rescued kidnap victims are Genesis M Samuel, 24, from Ganku village; Benard Denis, 28, from Fulfualgon village; Esther Titus, 35, from Kosanai village; and Isma’il Umar, 25, the son of the Emir of Pupulle, who was abducted from his residence on 18th January 2024.
“The commitment of the Brigade to safeguarding the lives of citizens and dismantling criminal infrastructure within Taraba State remains unwavering.
