Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the phone conversation between the United States President, Donald Trump and President Muhammadu Buhari.
The ex-spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential campaign suggested that Trump should have told his Nigerian counterpart to stop supporting Fulani herdsmen.
Fani-Kayode, who took to his twitter handle @realFFK described Buhari as the friend of the immediate past US President, Barrack Obama.
“If it’s true that @realDonaldTrump spoke to @BarackObama’s friend @MBuhari, it is good news! I hope he told him to stop killing Christians.
“…and Shiite Muslims and to stop supporting the Fulani terrorists and herdsmen. Meanwhile, I hope he will soon speak to his own people too.
Recall that Trump yesterday spoke with Buhari who is currently on medical vacation in the United Kingdom, UK.
The phone conversation between both leaders was at the instance of the US President.
A statement by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said, “The conversation was cordial and President Buhari congratulated Trump on his election as President of the United States, and on his cabinet.
“The two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through provision of necessary equipment.
“President Trump encouraged President Buhari to keep up the good work he is doing, and also commended him for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok Girls and the strides being taken by the Nigerian military.
“President Trump assured the Nigerian President of US readiness to cut a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism.
“President Trump also invited President Buhari to Washington at a mutually convenient date.”
