Istanbul – Turkey has opened its border with Syria to allow injured refugees enter the country, a spokesman for the aid organisation IHH told newsmen on Tuesday.
The spokesman, Mustafa Ozbek, said that the wounded were being treated in Turkish hospitals.
He however added that the border crossing remained closed to other refugees.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus on Monday told newsmen that as many as 600,000 new refugees could make their way to the border “in a worst case scenario.”

“Our first goal is to host these refugees outside of Turkey,” Kurtulmus said.
Conflicts in Syria and neighbouring Iraq had led to mass exodus of migrants from the affected areas to Europe through Turkey, Greece and Italy (dpa/NAN)
