Uyo – A Turkish Manufacturing Company says it is establishing a syringe manufacturing company in Akwa Ibom in partnership with the state government.
Mr Zubeyir Gulabi, the Managing Director of the company, disclosed this in Uyo on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Akwa Ibom State Health Commissioner, Dr Dominic Ukpong, in his office.
Gulabi said that the manufacturing company would source 50 per cent of its raw materials locally from the state.
He said that the company was a world-class firm with the capacity to produce 2ml, 5ml and 10ml disposable syringes at an annual production capacity of 350 million units.
Gulabi decribed Akwa Ibom as peaceful and most conducive for the industry.
He said that the company, at its peak of production, would employ over 5,000 people from the state.
Responding, Ukpong said that the state government was ready to partner the Turkish Syringe Manufacturing Company by providing a conducive environment.
Ukpong, who said that the state government would provide the site for the company, requested a specimen of syringes to be produced by the company.
The commissioner said that the government was interested to have the company sited within the state and demanded that its products must meet international standard.
Ukpong assured the company of the sustainability of its business if the production would be of international standard.
