LAGOS – Two men- Emeka Emezue, 46, and Uchenna Akudike, 40, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.
The accused who are both residents of No. 2, Ojuolape St., Magbon- Badagry in Lagos State, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov.4 at 4p.m.
Nnamonu said that the accused abducted one Chisom Okechukwu and took him to an undisclosed location.
“The defendants waylaid the complainant at about 4p.m. on Nov. 4 on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and forced him into their vehicle.
“They drove him to an undisclosed location against his will,” Nnamonu said.
The prosecution said that the offences contravened Sections 269 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Section 269 prescribes 10 years imprisonment for anyone who unlawfully captures and detains another against his/her will.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 22, 2015 for mention.(NAN)
