LAGOS – The Head Coach of Super Falconets, Peter Dedevbo, on Monday said that his team was determined to secure victory in its last group match against England.
Nigeria is in Group C at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada, alongside Mexico, South Korea and England.
Dedevbo said in a statement signed by the team’s Media Officer, Elizabeth Kah, that the team would develop a new winning formula against the English side on Wednesday.
Falconets are on top of Group C with four points after a crucial 2-1 victory over South Korea in their second match.
The team was forced to a 1-1 draw in its opening group game against Mexico.
“We are here in Canada to win the world cup, so, we cannot relax after winning our second match against Korea Republic.
“The English team is equally good. I want nothing less than a win against England.
” I am happy the strategy we used in the match against Korea worked; this time around I am going to introduce a new style of play. [eap_ad_2] “I must commend the girls for their fearless fight, and I am happy there are no injuries among the girls,” Dedevbo said.
He said that the Falconets arrived at Edmonton, Canada, on Sunday ahead of their last group match.
The coach said that the Falconets had continued with their daily routine training twice a day at the Jasper Place bowl.
NAN reports that the team needs at least a draw against England to qualify for the knock out stage of the tournament.
The encounter against England comes up on Wednesday 6p.m. local time, which is Thursday 1a.m. in Nigeria. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
