Kiev – The United States has promised to give additional 190 million dollars financial assistance to Ukraine.
U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden, gave the promise on Monday during a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev.
He said that the 190 million would bring the total direct U.S. financial aid to Ukraine to 760 million dollars since that country ousted its pro-Russian president in 2014.
Biden said that the additional aid would help Ukraine weed out corruption in its law enforcement system and implement much-needed financial reforms.
Cash-strapped Ukraine has used international loans and financial aid to stave off bankruptcy as the country struggles to bring its economy out of Russia’s direct influence.
