On the eve of his second-term inauguration, US President-elect Donald Trump promised immediate action to address critical issues, starting with immigration enforcement at the US-Mexico border.
“Starting tomorrow, I will act with historic speed and strength and fix every single crisis facing our country,” Trump declared to a cheering crowd at a Washington arena.
Joining him on stage was Elon Musk, the tech magnate tasked with leading cost-cutting measures in Trump’s administration. Musk expressed confidence, saying he would achieve “great things” and strengthen America “for centuries.”
Trump, now 78, emphasized immigration in his speech, echoing the themes that fueled his November election win. “We’re going to stop the invasion of our borders,” he said, referencing his administration’s plans for raids on undocumented migrants soon after taking office.
He also criticized the outgoing administration, calling Democratic President Joe Biden’s leadership a “failed administration.”
The rally drew celebrity supporters, including actor Jon Voight and musician Kid Rock, who offered high praise for Trump. Outside the arena, Trump supporters stood in long lines despite the snowy weather.
“I wanted to see history unfold before my eyes,” said Alan McNeely, a 21-year-old student from Connecticut.
The event highlighted Trump’s commitment to what he called a new “Golden Age” for the country.
