WASHINGTON – U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday approved the deployment of an additional 450 U.S. troops to train and assist Iraqi forces in Anbar province to fight Islamic State militants, the White House said.
The move came amid growing concern about the effectiveness of Iraqi forces and the U.S. strategy against Islamic State.
