Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has taken his drive for investment to Germany where the 2014 African Finance and Investment Forum (AFIF) is currently taking place in Cologne. According to a statement made available to SundiataPOST and signed by Pius Mordi, special assistant to the State Commissioner for Information, Uduaghan has made a presentation where he told the business community about the investment opportunities in Delta State and his vision of Delta Beyond Oil. In a keynote address during the opening of the forum organised by EMRC, Belgium and DEG (German Financial Development Institution), Uduaghan identified inadequate transport infrastructure as the major challenge to development in Africa. He said although Nigeria has security issues, they are exaggerated and will soon be resolved. With the strengthening of democratic structures in Nigeria, Uduaghan said the country offers a stable and profitable haven for investors. Members of the Delta State delegation include Chike C. Ogeah, Commissioner for Information; Afam Obiago, Economic Adviser to the Governor and Ben Igo, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Economic Planning.
AFIF brings together expert Financiers, Bankers, Investors, Public sector and Entrepreneurs from across sub-Saharan Africa to the rest of the world. The forum is designed for public and private institutions interested in securing finance for projects; investors (private and institutional) looking for projects to invest in; as well as policy makers, financiers/bankers, to build partnership.
