Geneva – The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has called on Europe to show more commitment with other countries in dealing with ongoing migrant crisis.
The call came at the backdrop of chaotic scenes concerning migrants at the weekend in Greece, Macedonia and Serbia.
The agency in a statement on Monday in Geneva challenged Europe to show more capacity and commitment towards ensuring the safety of migrants on their journey to parts of the continent.

It said that an estimated 7,000 migrants arrived in Serbia on Sunday night, after neighbouring Macedonia caved into pressure and opened its borders following clashes with police on Friday.
It disclosed that it planned to build more reception centres for refugees at the border region.
The agency also criticized Athens for failing to register migrants before allowing them to enter into Macedonia.
Vincent Cochotel, UNHCR Europe Bureau Director, remarked that the migrants’ problem would not go away soon, adding that all of Europe was likely to be affected.
He said that European Union member states must brace up to the issue. (dpa/NAN)
