United Nations Secretary-General has extended his warm wishes to Muslims worldwide as they begin observing the holy month of Ramadan.
In his message, he emphasized the importance of Ramadan’s core values of compassion, empathy, and generosity. He noted that the month offers a time to reconnect with loved ones and reflect on the needs of those less fortunate.
The Secretary-General expressed particular solidarity with people facing hardship, especially those enduring displacement and violence in regions such as Gaza, Sudan, and the Sahel. He stated, “I stand with all those who are suffering” and joined in calling for peace and mutual respect during this sacred time.
He also highlighted his tradition of undertaking solidarity visits and fasting with Muslim communities around the world each Ramadan. He shared that these experiences serve as a reminder of Islam’s true values and leave him inspired by the sense of peace that defines the season.
Concluding his message, the Secretary-General urged everyone to embrace these values and work together towards a more just and peaceful world. He wished Muslims a blessed Ramadan, saying, “Ramadan Kareem.”
