A coalition of all ethnic and political pressure groups in the Niger Delta region, United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy (UNDEDSS), has declared support for President Gooduck Jonathan’s second term ambition.

Making this known on Sunday, UNDEDSS Secretary-General, Mr. Tony Uranta, in a statement after the body’s seventh annual general assembly, held in Port Harcourt, said members of the association were committed supporters of President Jonathan.

“The Niger Delta region supports President Jonathan’s 2015 re-election bid. We however, urge the president to continue to exhibit transparent commitment to the ruleof law. We also want him to show to Nigerians, and the entire world, that his administration is truly nation-focused and not partisan.

He, however, implored President Jonathan to run a more inclusive government by carrying along every well-meaning Nigerian in decisions taking.
According to him, it was high time Nigerians began to give more credence merit than sentiments based on religion or ethnicity.
While he sued for peace in the region, Uranta urged the people to set aside their personal interests for the over-all interest of the region by supporting Jonathan.

UNDEDSS also declared Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom as the nation’s ‘Man-of-the-Year-2014.’
Uranta noted that “The decision was based on the outstanding performance of the governor in his state,” he said.
