Lome – The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has inaugurated the first incubation centre for women entrepreneurs in Lome, the Togolese capital.
The UNDP Resident Representative in Togo, Khardiata Lo N’Diaye, made the disclosure on Thursday in Lome, saying
that the centre, dubbed “INNOV’UP,’’ was the fruit of partnership between the Federation of Women Enterpreneurs in Togo and UNDP.
According to her, the objective of the centre is to promote and develop women entrepreneurship through active and integrated support of their economic initiatives in sectors that have high potential to generate wealth and create jobs.
Lo N’Diaye said the INNOV’UP centre would be used for hatching business ideas for women and craft ways for implementing them.
“It aims to become an important tool for poverty reduction in Togo as it will propose concrete solutions to challenges that have obstructed women from emerging as competitive entrepreneurs,’’ she said. (Xinhua/NAN)
