Badagry (Lagos State) – An unemployed, Bamidele Adewale, was on Monday charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ court in Lagos State over the theft of two phones worth N20,000.
The accused person, who resides at No 6, Kappo Compound, Idale, Badagry, is charged with stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 5, at Idale area of Badagry.
He said that the accused stole the phones from the complainant, one Miss Tope Ogunseyitan, while she was walking along a street.
“The complainant was walking home and while doing that, she was receiving a call, so she was a bit distracted.
“The accused crept from behind her and snatched the phones, but he fell down before he could run away with them,’’ the prosecutor said.

According to Uko, the offence contravenes Section 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Mr Akinyemi Olubode, Counsel to the accused, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Etti adjourned further hearing in the case till Aug. 31. (NAN)
