KADUNA (SUNDIATA POST)- A 40-year-old unemployed man, Martins Clement, on Thursday appeared before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly posing as a navel officer.
Clement is facing a four-count charge of impersonation, breach of peace, stealing and assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 29 at 10.30 p.m. at NEPA Roundabout, Kaduna State.
Leo said that the defendant, who had no job had unlawfully wore a naval uniform, cap, belt and boots; parading himself as an officer.
He said that the defendant was arrested, when he assaulted a woman and stole her phone worth N250,000.
Leo said that the offences contravened Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must be a blood relative of the defendant and should show evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until March 26 for mention.(NAN)
