Epe – A 25-year-old unemployed man, Uzuchukwu Justice, on Thursday appeared before an Epe Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an iPhone six plus and a power bank.
Justice, whose residential address was not provided, is being tried on a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Moses Oyekanmi, told the court that the accused committed the offence at about 5.25 p.m. on June 6, at Austin Amido Close, Greenland Estate in Ajah area of Lagos.
Oyekanmi alleged that the accused stole the iPhone six plus valued at N130,000 and a power bank valued at N15,000, property of Miss Adetayo Adetunji, the complainant.
“My Lord, the accused stole the phone from where it was being charged. We have a witness that will put him at the location,” Oyekanmi said.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence of stealing attracts three years jail term.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A Erusiafe-Fowowe, said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Erusiafe-Fowowe adjourned the case until July 12 for mention. (
