Akun (Nasarawa state) – The District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa state, Mr. Peter Angbazo, has urged youths in the country to embrace farming for them to be self-employed.
Angbazo made the call on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wakama, Akun Development area of the state.
He said that for the country to attain food sufficiency as well as fight poverty and unemployment, youths and other Nigerians must go back to farm.
The district head also appealed to government at all level, to give agriculture priority if the country was to move away from oil as the major source of revenue.
“We are the custodians of people’s culture and apart from preaching peace and unity, it is also our duty to offer advice that will help make the country grow faster.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Government is doing its best in providing job opportunities to the youths, but government alone cannot provide employment for all citizens.
“That is why there is the need for the youths and other Nigerians to go back to farm, so as to become self-reliant, as well as ensure food sufficiency and reduce poverty and unemployment in the country,” he said..
Angbazo commended his people for living in peace and called for the sustenance of the atmosphere.
He called on his subjects and other Nigerians to give their maximum support and cooperation to the government for the country to progress.(NAN)
