UNICAL V-C cautions staff against extorting new students

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, has cautioned the against collecting unauthorised and fees from new students.

Obi gave the warning in a statement issued by the university’s Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe, which was made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Calabar.

”The attention of the university’s has been drawn to reports alleging that members of are extorting money from new students.

has cautioned against this unwholesome and unethical practice. It is wrong and condemnable,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the members of should properly guide students instead of extorting them.

He said that the university would deal decisively with any member of found soliciting or collecting illegal from new students.
