Birnin Kebbi – The North West zonal field office of UNICEF said it would partner with journalists in Kebbi to disseminate information on healthcare tips for mothers, newborn and children.

The UNICEF chief of field office, Mr Mohammed Mohiuddin, made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday at its maiden state media briefing.

He said the Fund would partner with journalists to increase awareness about vaccine preventable diseases, facilitate community dialogue toward removing barriers such as taboos and cultural and religious misconception to enhance access to healthcare services.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

He added that UNICEF would continue to provide logistic support to commodity supplies in health camps and announced that 50 Muslim clerics had been engaged to propagate the acceptance of immunisation in five high risk communities of the state.

Mohiuddin said the Fund would sustain its support toward reducing malnutrition and improvement of girl-child education in the state.

He noted that the world body had also assisted in repairing 312 vaccine preservation refrigerators out of 700 faulty ones and had provided healthcare support to many wards in the state. (NAN)
