The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) on Thursday has debunked reports that a final year student was stabbed to death by cult members on its campus.
A report making the rounds on the internet claimed a final year student of the faculty of Management at the Rivers State University wa shot dead by a 300 Level student of the same institution.
The deceased student was said to be eating somewhere around his faculty when his killer invaded the place and shot him in the head.
Reacting, the university Spokesman, Sam Kpenu, in a statement in Port Harcourt said that the report was the handiwork of alarmists.
”The attention of the management of UNIPORT has been drawn to a report that a final year student was stabbed to death by suspected cultists.
“The report claimed the killing occurred after the students’ final examination at the Faculty of Science.
“UNIPORT management wishes to state in clear terms that no such event happened in the university.
“The report is a figment of the imagination of the writer, and as such, should be ignored by members of the public,” he said.
Kpenu insisted that no cult attack was witnessed in the university throughout the period of the examination.
”Students wrote their final papers unmolested by any group,” he added.
